February 3, 10:40 a.m.

South Street

Hanover Police received a call from the Howe library reporting that a 61-year-old female and her 18-year-old son had incurred a combined fine of $553 for overdue books and CDs. The items have reportedly been checked out since March and July of 2008. Hanover Police is attempting to collect the fines from the individuals before making any arrests.

February 3, 11:24 a.m.

South Main Street

Hanover Police received a call from two Hanover residents who said they were the victims of credit card theft. The suspect, a California resident, made a transaction on the individuals' credit card at Disneyland for $507. Transactions were also made at Napster.com and SlumberParties.com, an online adult toy vender. The case will be referred to a national white-collar crime clearing office, as it does not fall under the jurisdiction of Hanover Police.

February 4, 9:24 a.m.

Allen Street

An Everything But Anchovies employee informed Hanover Police that someone had placed an order for $600 worth of pizza. The call was part of a scam originating from Canada in which large quantities of items are ordered with stolen credit cards and a cash advance is requested. Since the victim of this credit card fraud is from Florida, Hanover Police is not investigating the case as it is outside its jurisdiction.

February 6, 3:47 p.m.

South Main Street

Hanover Police received a call from a Gap employee regarding suspicious activity in the store. A male between the ages of 40 and 50 was complaining that the Dartmouth mascot had changed. The male performed a stereotypical imitation of a Native American dance before leaving the store. The police found the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, across the street at Left Bank Books. No arrests were made.

February 7, 2:08 a.m.

Webster Avenue

A Hanover Police officer on patrol on Webster Avenue noticed two males who appeared to be intoxicated leaving Bones Gate fraternity. After walking the short distance to the sidewalk, one student fell into a snow bank. The officer determined that the students were intoxicated and took them to the police station to be booked. The students were released a few hours later with a summons to appear in court on March 9.
