Safety and Security received a report of an intoxicated 20-year-old male student who wandered into either a female student's room or a female bathroom. The student was brought to Dick's House, where he was "uncooperative" with Safety and Security and the Dick's House staff. The male was "creating a problem," so the Health Services staff decided he could not remain at Dick's House. Hanover Police arrived on the scene and arrested the student for unlawful possession and intoxication, informing him that an ambulance was on its way. The officer offered the student the options of being taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center or the county jail. When the ambulance arrived, the male continued to refuse to cooperate, and Hanover Police tied the subject to the stretcher for the ride to DHMC. At DHMC, the police officers notified the staff that once the student had been medically cleared, if he did not calm down, they would retake the student into custody. Hanover Police reported that when the student did not calm down, officers had to wrestle with him to get him secured in a set of handcuffs. At the station, the student continued to behave "belligerently" and repeatedly spat on the floor and the walls. The officers decided to transport the subject to the county jail. For about three-quarters of the ride, the male swore and yelled at the officers. He then proceeded to take off his seat belt and urinate all over the back of the cruiser. Hanover Police deposited the student at the county jail. The student will appear in court at an as-of-yet unlisted date. He is not eligible for the alcohol diversion program.

A man alleged that his estranged wife forged a $17,000 check in his name. Hanover Police reported that last November the man became disabled so he had to leave his job and take money out of his 401(k) account. His employer wrote him a $17,000 check, which Hanover Police said was intercepted by the man's wife and deposited into her account at Ledyard National Bank. The case is still under investigation, partly because both parties live in Maryland. Their only known connection to Hanover is the Ledyard National Bank account.

Hanover Police and Safety and Security intercepted a "strange-acting subject" behind Gamma Delta Chi fraternity. When the police found the 20-year-old male student, he was yelling and attempting to run away. He ran headfirst into the treeline bordering the house's backyard, striking his head against the fence behind it. The subject got up and ran in another direction, where he hit the fence a second time. The subject then tried heading north but hit the fence again. Having exhausted the male then headed south towards the physical plant of GDX. The officers tried to restrain the subject, but Hanover Police reported that he cursed at them and yelled nonsensical statements about the end of the world. The subject could not walk upright without assistance and the police officer had to hold him by his shirt. The officer informed the student that he was going to be placed under arrest for unlawful possession and intoxication and moved to handcuff the student. The student remained uncooperative. The officer requested assistance from a second police officer, and the two officers had to physically carry the student to the vehicle. When they went to direct him into the rear seat, the male tried to throw them off and had to be dragged inside. The male then refused to fasten his seat belt, lying down on the seat to avoid doing so. Before the vehicle started, he tried to kick out the rear passenger window so they secured the subject with a set of leg cuffs. He then spat all over the seat. When Hanover Police brought him into the station, the student continued screaming, yelling and spitting. Then he vomited all over the floor of the booking area. Hanover Police contacted the fire department, which runs the ambulance squad and took the subject to DHMC. In the process of subduing the student, the second responding Hanover Police officer had twisted his ankle, so he also had to be evaluated at DHMC. The police report is unfinished, so a court date has not been set. The student will not qualify for the alcohol diversion program.

A Brook Road resident called Hanover Police with a complaint regarding a suspicious vehicle. According to Hanover Police, the resident believed the car might have been occupied by young people consuming alcohol. Hanover Police investigated and found two vehicles on the premises, both of which were occupied by teenagers. From their conversation with the occupants, the officers determined that underage Hanover High School seniors were having a party at a house on Barrett Road and the host's parents were not home. Hanover Police visited the house and let the guests place calls to their parents to be picked up. The officers applied for a search warrant and searched the house the following day for evidence of unlawful possession. They found three "thirty racks" of Keystone as well as the ends of rolled marijuana cigarettes, which appeared to have been discarded out the window when the guests realized the officers had arrived. At least five students are being charged with unlawful possession, four of whom may be eligible for the alcohol diversion program. The party's host is being charged with hosting an underage drinking party and will have to go to court, but has not yet been arrested.

A caller requested a Hanover Police unit at Alumni Gym, reporting that employees at the gym were holding a male subject against his will. The caller believed the detention was related to a theft. Hanover Police and Safety and Security arrived at the scene, where Hanover Police took custody of the subject in question. The suspect, a 24-year-old from Guild, N.H., had come through an open door earlier and was recognized by an employee of the gym, who notified his supervisor that the suspect had a criminal record. The staff decided to keep an eye on the subject and thereafter witnessed him removing a wallet from a student's backpack. It was at this point that employees converged upon the subject and held him until Hanover Police arrived. The subject is scheduled to appear in court on June 10.
