Baseball strung together a five-run seventh inning to beat Quinnipiac 7-2 on Wednesday. The Big Green faces Ivy foe Brown in four games this weekend.

Dartmouth (14-9, 7-1 Ivy) defeated Quinnipiac (5-17, 0-4 NEC) 7-2 in Hanover, marking the Big Green's second victory over the Bobcats this season.

Dartmouth defeated Quinnipiac 7-5 on March 26.

Divisional play kicks off in the Ivy League this weekend with the Big Green leading the Red Rolfe division. Dartmouth will travel to Providence, R.I. to face off against Brown (12-13, 4-4 Ivy) on Saturday.

The Bears sit in third place in the division, three games behind the Big Green. They had moderate success against Lou Gehrig Division opponents, sweeping Cornell (7-16, 1-7 Ivy), falling in both games to Columbia (10-18, 6-2 Ivy), and splitting its doubleheaders against the University of Pennsylvania (11-12-1, 3-4 Ivy) and Princeton (12-15, 4-4 Ivy).

Yale (13-16-1, 5-2 Ivy) will take on struggling rival Harvard (2-23, 1-7 Ivy) this weekend in New Haven, Conn. The Bulldogs are a game and a half behind Dartmouth in the divisional standings and could pull within a game after the outcome of a suspended game against Penn is decided.

Harvard has had difficulty on offense all season, averaging just over two and a half runs per game. The Crimson's only Ivy victory so far this year has come against Gehrig cellar-dweller Cornell.

In the Gehrig Division, first-place Columbia is two games ahead of Princeton entering their weekend series in New York. Cornell will try to crawl out of last place in a pair of doubleheaders at the University of Pennsylvania.

Women's Tennis

The Dartmouth women's tennis team will compete in its first out of town conference matches this weekend to test the team's perfect conference record.

After soundly defeating Columbia (3-10, 0-3 Ivy) and Cornell (8-4, 1-2 Ivy) last weekend, the Big Green (14-1, 2-0 Ivy) will travel to New Jersey to face off against Princeton (8-8, 1-2 Ivy) on Friday. They will then travel to Philadelphia to play the University of Pennsylvania (7-7, 2-1 Ivy) on Saturday.

Although Dartmouth's overall record puts the rest of the Ivy League to shame, with an impressive winning percentage of .933, the women enter the weekend tied for first with Yale (7-8, 3-0 Ivy) and Harvard (2-12, 2-0 Ivy). The Crimson shoulders the weakest overall record in the league without a non-conference win. Yale dealt Penn its only defeat so far in conference play last weekend.

Columbia, after last weekend's losses to Harvard and Dartmouth, is tied for last place with Brown (9-7, 0-3 Ivy).

Softball

Despite losing both games of a doubleheader against Cornell on Wednesday, the Big Green softball team remains in second place of the North Division of the Ivy League. The Big Green (6-19, 2-6 Ivy League) dropped the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader 3-1 before losing 11-3 in the five-inning nightcap with the Big Red (23-7, 5-1 Ivy).

Cornell opened the first game by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. A Big Red error in the top of the second allowed co-captain Sarah Bankoff '08 to score, but Cornell retaliated in the bottom of the inning with a home run by junior Jessy Berkey to reach the final score of 3-1.

The nightcap began with an eight-run first inning for the Big Red. Dartmouth got on the scoreboard with a two-run homer by Kirsten Costello '10 in the top of the third. Cornell struck back by scoring one run in the fourth and two in the fifth to end the game.

Harvard (12-15, 5-3 Ivy) sits atop the North Division standings, followed by Dartmouth. Yale (12-14, 2-6 Ivy) and Brown (3-14, 0-8 Ivy) round out the North in third and fourth place, respectively.

Leading the Ivy League overall is Princeton (11-19, 8-0 Ivy), who despite a less than mediocre overall record remains undefeated in eight games of Ivy League play. The Tigers ended an eight-game win streak on Wednesday afternoon with two losses to Rutgers, and will play back-to-back doubleheaders against South Division opponent Columbia (12-20, 3-5 Ivy) this weekend.

Dartmouth is scheduled to play a home-away doubleheader series against last-place Brown on Saturday and Sunday.

Men's Lacrosse

Dartmouth's men's lacrosse team had another disappointing week losing a hard-fought game to Ivy foe University of Pennsylvania 9-8 in overtime on Saturday. The Big Green (4-5, 0-2 Ivy) came back from a 7-1 deficit to tie the game at 8-8 and bring it into overtime.

With the loss, Dartmouth sits at the bottom of the Ancient Eight, tied with Harvard (4-5, 0-2 Ivy) and Yale (2-7, 0-4 Ivy) who also have no Ivy wins.

Last weekend illustrated the divide that currently exists in the conference. The top three teams in the league, No. 5 Cornell (8-2, 3-0 Ivy), No. 15 Princeton (5-4, 2-0 Ivy) and No. 16 Brown (7-2, 2-0 Ivy) all remain undefeated.

The University of Pennsylvania (5-4, 3-2 Ivy) sits in the middle of the table, while Harvard, Yale and Dartmouth are stuck in the league cellar. Several games were played over the weekend that solidified those standings, including the game between the Big Green and the Quakers.

In addition, the Ivy League did not fare well in out-of-conference play. No. 1 Syracuse beat down both Cornell and Princeton by the scores of 15-8 and 13-6, respectively.

The only major upset in college lacrosse this week happened when No. 9 Navy knocked off a hot No. 3 University of Maryland team 5-4 at College Park, Md., last Saturday.

The Big Green looks to pull the upset in league play this weekend in its match-up at Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y., on Saturday.

Lightweight Crew

Dartmouth's lightweight rowing team heads to Worcester, Mass., this weekend to take on the College of the Holy Cross and the University of Delaware in its first regatta of the season.

The Big Green returns as the defending Eastern Sprints champion.Dartmouth's lightweight varsity eights are currently ranked sixth in the USRowing Collegiate Poll, while the Blue Hens are ranked 10th and the Crusaders are receiving votes.

Last time out, Delaware's varsity eights rowed a 5:58.9 in a loss to the University of Pennsylvania, who rowed a 5:52.8. Nationally, Cornell, who received the six first-place votes, topped the first edition of the poll, just barely edging out Yale, who received five first-place votes.

The Big Red was impressive in its last outing, when it hosted fourth-ranked Harvard and seventh-ranked Penn in an early match-up of powerhouse schools. Cornell's varsity eights won with a time of 5:51.8, just over five seconds ahead of the Crimson and almost nine seconds ahead of the Quakers.

Yale also flexed its muscle in its last race, when the Bulldogs beat third-ranked Navy by 5.7 seconds in the Johnson Cup.

Heavyweight And Women's Crew

With tough early spring racing conditions and limited action over the past few weeks, it is hard to crown any early season favorites in the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges. Several key duel races this weekend, however, should prove helpful in determining the early favorites.

On the men's heavyweight side, Dartmouth will look to carry its momentum from last weekend's victory over Holy Cross into its race against a strong Yale team. Meanwhile, after solid victories over Boston University and Yale, Brown looks to continue its own hot start against Harvard. Elsewhere, the University of Pennsylvania will take on Princeton in Philadelphia, and Syracuse will head to New Jersey to face Rutgers.

On the women's side, most of the league will be heading to Boston. After last week's tough loss to Northeastern, Dartmouth will take on Boston University, Yale and Minnesota. Meanwhile, Radcliffe will take on Cornell and Princeton after a victory over Brown, and Northeastern will face Penn and Syracuse.

Women's Lacrosse

Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team, which has struggled in conference play this season, will face tough league competition this weekend, taking on No. 7 University of Pennsylvania in Hanover on Saturday.

The Big Green (5-5, 1-3 Ivy) is currently in seventh place in the Ivy League ladder.

The Quakers (9-1, 4-0 Ivy) sit at the top of league rankings. Penn improved its record last Sunday with a 14-10 win against Harvard (7-4, 1-2 Ivy). The Crimson are sixth on the conference ladder.

Undefeated Princeton (9-0, 3-0 Ivy) sits in the second spot in the Ivy League as it has played one fewer conference game than the Quakers. The Tigers prevailed over Yale (9-4, 3-2 Ivy) lastSaturday to keep pace with Penn.

The Bulldogs, however, exacted revenge on Columbia on Wednesday, beating the Lions 16-8. Columbia (3-8, 0-6 Ivy) is still seeking its first conference victory.

Brown (5-5, 2-1 Ivy), which stands in third place, also scored a victory over the Lions.

This weekend features several key Ivy matches, including a contest between Cornell (5-4, 2-2 Ivy) and Brown, and a match-up between Princeton and Harvard.

Men's Tennis

After a disappointing weekend on the road, the Dartmouth men's tennis team is looking to bounce back with two contests at home this weekend. Last weekend, the Big Green (5-8, 0-2 Ivy) had two tough losses to Columbia (7-5, 2-1 Ivy) and Cornell (6-9, 1-2 Ivy).

Dartmouth is currently in last place in the Ivy League.

The Big Green will battle Princeton (9-7, 1-2 Ivy) on Friday, and will take on the University of Pennsylvania (11-8, 2-1 Ivy) the following day. Dartmouth will have the opportunity to gain ground in the Ivy League standings, with three more Ivy League matches are scheduled after this weekend.

Harvard (10-6, 2-0 Ivy) leads the Ancient Eight, as the Crimson beat both Cornell and Columbia 4-3 last weekend. Brown (8-12, 1-1 Ivy) split the weekend, beating Princeton 4-3 before falling to Penn the next day, 5-2. Yale (6-7, 1-1 Ivy) also split the weekend, losing to Penn 6-1 and edging Princeton 4-3 on Saturday.

Men and Women's Golf

The Dartmouth men's golf team finished 15th out of 27 teams this past weekend at the Yale Spring Open in New Haven, Conn. Captain Jamie Wallace '08 led the team with a score of 73-72-145, five strokes over par, good enough for seventh place. This weekend, the Big Green travels to Providence, R.I., to compete in the New England Division I Championship at Triggs Memorial Golf Club.

The women's golf team had a difficult weekend, finishing in last place at the Dartmouth Triangular in Hatchville, Mass. Harvard won the event, while Brown came in second. The low scorer for the Big Green was Elizabeth Dupuy '08, who came in 12th place. The Big Green women will have the weekend off before competing in the Ivy League Championships, which takes place the weekend of April 18. The championships will take place at the Atlantic City Country Club in Northfield, N.J.
