To the Editor:
In response to Sean Nicholson("Theta Delts, Not Theta Delt," Aug. 10), I'm both confused and I admit, a bit amused by his article. He claims that the house should not be blamed as a single entity, yet he apologizes on behalf of the house. If Theta Delt would like to blame individuals and not the house then why aren't these individuals writing letters of apology to the campus? Oh, right I forgot that Phil Killian said "the house functions as a unit" and that "a lot of guys were really drunk" and "might not have remembered what happened." Some very mixed messages coming from this house, and they all conveniently protect anyone from really accepting blame.
"We were drunk and we don't remember" isn't an excuse. Unless every brother in that house was blacked out, there are plenty of Theta Delts to remind those who took part; it's a pretty large house if I remember correctly. The mob mentality in a frat is a scary thing and to make the individuals accept responsibility rather than hiding behind it might take a step towards making it not happen again.
And for those that think we're beating this issue to death, it really wasn't that long ago that the whole "pole dancing" incident happened here. Maybe we didn't put enough pressure and attention on it last time; it's time to rectify that mistake.
