To the Editor:
A grave injustice has been done to an outstanding academician and I am hopeful Dartmouth has the opportunity and the desire to help remedy the situation. Professor Norman Finkelstein, a dedicated, courageous, extremely competent historian, and also a controversial figure, was recently denied tenure at DePaul University. He coined the term "Holocaust Industry" through his book of the same name.
I encourage Dartmouth to consider offering Professor Finkelstein a position in the Department of History. I have no idea whether Professor Finkelstein would be interested in teaching at Dartmouth, but he would be a tremendous addition to the faculty of the school of which I am so proud to be an alumnus. Should Dartmouth "dare a deed for the old Mother," it would make me prouder still.
