To the Editor:
In response to Beau Trudel '10's misleading letter to the editor ("The true scope of the Obama canvass," May 29), I would like to definitively clear the record.
A number of presidential candidates and their New Hampshire campaigns have participated in State Wide Canvasses supported by Dartmouth students, including Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY)'s campaign of which I am a proud member. Just because one is unhappy with the fair and equal coverage in a tiny D article buried in the paper doesn't mean one should resort to obvious misinformation. Let us not deface The D anymore over the next eight months.
I truly had hoped that this kind of petty competition between campaigns would not emerge from the cesspool of dirty politics until at least late in the fall term. Obviously, I underestimated the tenacity of certain individuals. To all you non-sophomores, enjoy your summer away from New Hampshire politics. Sounds like its gonna get nasty in the fall.
Oh, and by the way, Trudel and friends, you might be interested to read the May 13 article in the Manchester Union-Leader titled "Clinton Supporters take her Campaign to a New Level." Believe it or not, we chose not to demand coverage in The D. I would also point out that Senator Clinton's State Wide canvass took place before Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL)'s. OH SNAP! Enjoy your summer and relax! Can't we all just get along?
In all seriousness, let us agree not to throw a fit anytime our campaign feels slighted by The D. We are supposed to act like adults, right?
