To the Editor:
It is a sad day for progressive Dartmouth graduates who hope to see the College move into the 21st century ("Smith '88 wins trustee election," May 18). A possible creationist, who writes disparagingly of "radical feminists" and who would like to see a fraternity reinstated which was abolished for a controversial and offensive newsletter? Who refers to "the infamous Student Life Initiative?" Some day it will be clear that the dismantling of the Student Life Initiative set Dartmouth back many years; we will be a long time recovering. Here is one grad who remains surprised and dismayed that, 30 years after women entered, the fraternity remains the dominant social paradigm. And so it goes.
