The Dartmouth

Jacq Has Got Your Bacq

Dartmouth, we need SA to step aside from addressing student services and problems that are within the administration's jurisdiction. We need SA to step up as a governing body that addresses the critical issues that matter to students.

We need to:

Reform COS Penalties: Students who are accused of plagiarism and of sexual assault can be sentenced to the same punishment. We cannot equate these infractions.

Have More Counseling Services: Over 25 percent of students go to Dick's house for counseling, yet the college supplies less than ten counselors to support the entire student body. Consequently there is over a one-month wait to get an appointment.

Improve academic advising: Dartmouth needs to revamp its teacher-advising program--the Economics department does not even offer major advising because there are too many students in it.

Support Greeks: As a member of KDE, I know how important it is to continue to sustain Greek life on campus and fight for support from the administration.

But, why vote for me?

I will bring to my role as SA VP extensive experience within and outside the assembly: I have served on SA since freshman fall, and I have sat on the Membership and Internal Affairs Committee (which is chaired by the VP) for three terms; I am '08 VP; I was on Vox Croo; I am part of Ledyard Canoe Club; I am a sister at KDE; I have been an OLE mentor since my freshman fall; and I am a tour guide.

In addition, I think that being female makes me particularly qualified to address matters relating to women. I am not saying that men are less capable of tackling women's issues, I just think that being a women gives me an advantage because I know what we need and what we want.

Dartmouth, it is time to create an enthusiastic student government that appreciates the resources and responsibility of such a crucial organization. I can bring new life and energy to the Assembly and help motivate students to take the initiative to effect visible change.

I have outlined several critical issues that need to be addressed -- but I care most about hearing what you want to change. I want to use this leadership position to reach out to you. Your ideas are what I want to see become next year's reality.

Vote to Change. Together.
