Get The Job Done

The candidates' last words are these statements, pledges and promises. Who can actually deliver on what they are saying? Who is able to back up pledges with a record and reputation for decisive leadership? I deliver concrete, serious goals for next year, with the experience, support and ability to fulfill my pledges.

My main goals: overhaul SA, make Greek issues a priority and serve as the strong, respectable student voice needed to handle the administration.

The SA needs reform. Too ofte n, the SA leadership focuses inwardly. I emphasize serious plans for next year.

I have always sought tangible goals in SA. This year I pushed for alcohol policy review beyond Social Events Management Procedures, pursuing a policy with a realistic perspective on partying and promoting safety, but not infringing on social life. I also developed an SA Alumni Review Board, reducing SA redundancy.

My tangible goals for next year include:

-- Further changes in the alcohol and SEMP policy. We need a better Good Samaritan clause and more administrative support before the Board of Trustees.

-- Restructuring the SA budget and its structure. Next year, SA will eliminate unpopular programs, while transferring successful but expensive programs into College hands. We could access more than $15,000 than the SA had available in this year's budget. This financial flexibility helps to fulfill many plans.

-- The expansion of library hours, remaining open hours later than ever before. We will continue the work SA has already begun, leading it to completion.

-- Prioritizing Diversity Affairs. We will move quickly to develop permanent solutions to the repetitive problems that have plagued this committee. The committee will pursue new endeavors, including Dartmouth's attracting and retaining minority faculty.

-- A serious commitment to athletics and club sports programs. Tangible projects such as lights on the tennis courts would extend access to existing facilities.

Never has there been an SA president actually committed to Greek issues. My experience on Greek issues (hands-on experience as my fraternity social chair, in the OAC, and working on the SEMP and alcohol policies) provides me an unmatched perspective. I commit to further sorority expansion, increasing social, community, and leadership opportunities for women and I commit to a safer system for all of Dartmouth.

SA should be a strong student advocate. The best student-leaders in the SA have joined my campaign. They want progress and realistic perspective. My record demonstrates an ability to work with and to challenge the administration; the SA will not be a test-run for my leadership. My outside leadership and SA leadership attest to my commitment to the student body.

We will gather leaders from throughout the campus and yield a true voice for the student body. We will challenge the administration on class size, respect for free speech, and gender-neutral housing.

My experience and my leadership on campus demonstrate that I follow-through on promises.

Vote like you mean it; you'll get a President with a serious dedication to the student body.
