Fewer Words, More Action

Today you begin to vote. Some of you may still be thinking, "Why should I vote for Jeffrey Coleman?" The answer is quite simple: because SA needs someone who will get the job done. The position of Vice President deals mostly with the internal affairs of Student Assembly. The VP is the behind the scenes worker who handles the little things that allow the bigger things to happen. During my short time here at Dartmouth, I have proven myself to be someone who is perseverant and always sees each project through to completion. My work ethic, combined with my extensive involvement in Student Assembly, is what makes me the most qualified VP candidate in this year's election. I know how committees work, I have a firm grasp of how legislation is written and presented and I know how to reach out to people so that their voices can be heard.

What distinguishes me from my opponents is my level of dedication. I have been an integral member of five SA Committees (Communications, Student Services, Diversity Affairs, Student Organizations and Membership and Internal Affairs), working on important projects in each. I have also been the designated mass blitzer for SA. Aside from my positions in Student Assembly, I'm a member of the UJIMA Dance Troop, a student reference librarian at Berry Library and a Spanish Drill Instructor.

I also have several innovative ideas for next year's Assembly to undertake. These include the creation of a Greek Affairs Committee and reform of the College Committee system. This committee would act as a liaison to the Greek Leadership Council as a way to foster communication between the Greek System and SA, which has clearly been absent in the past. I also intend to make SA more relevant to the student body. Most students don't know what SA is and or what it does. I plan to remedy this by an outreach program, where SA will hold meetings in alternative locations (such as the Cutter Shabazz) so that SA comes to its constituents and seeks their input. Overall, my main goal for the next year is to increase communication between SA and the student body.

I am 100% positive that my commitment to SA, concrete accomplishments and innovative ideas will foster the changes that SA so badly needs. If I did not feel that I was the best candidate for this position, I would not be running in this election. That being said, I would sincerely appreciate your voting for me for the office of Vice President. Thank you.
