To the Editor:
In response the article in The D regarding off-campus study ("Study abroad programs leave some students embittered," Feb. 1), although I felt the article presented the positive side of LSAs and FSPs, I believe the tone may persuade some not to pursue studying abroad if they were on the fence. I could think of few greater travesties regarding a student's Dartmouth experience.
Going on an LSA was one of the best decisions I made during Dartmouth career. Sure, accommodations abroad are not necessarily as good as in Hanover, but the experience is worth it. When I immersed myself in the culture of another country, I felt I learned more about myself than any other three-month period at Dartmouth. Leaving one's comfort zone is the only way to truly grow and develop. In hindsight, going on the LSA was one of my best decisions as a Dartmouth student.
