Our Barry Bonds' Big-League Ball Blunder

To the Editor:

There is a mistake in your article concerning Barry Bonds' ("Barry Bonds' deserves recognition as an all-time great," Stephen Macekura). Granted, it's incredibly late, but I was tracking down stats on Barry Bonds, and your link came up. Ted Williams hit 521 home runs we hit in 19 years (he didn't play baseball for five years because he volunteered to serve as a Marine during WWII). His comparison of Williams to Bonds in terms of home run production as such, is highly inaccurate, and also unfair to compare it by sheer season count. Williams missed what we're probably five of his best home run years serving his country.

Not that it diminishes the incredible things Barry has done, however, it is factually inaccurate.
