Professor Meir Kohn (July 22, The Dartmouth) wrongly asserts that the Jewish Studies program organized the talk by the Israeli Air Force pilot Yonatan Shapira. As chair of the program, I would like to set the facts straight. Although the talk was supported by Hillel, the Jewish Studies program, the Dickey Center and War and Peace Studies, among others, it was organized by a student. Professor Kohn could have readily ascertained this.
The Jewish Studies program remains committed to helping students and faculty organize and publicize events related in any way to Jewish Studies. In this effort, we do not discriminate on the basis of the sponsor's or speakers' political viewpoints.
