Dear Editor,
I would like to thank the Dartmouth for perfectly demonstrating my point. By titling my op-ed piece "Janet Jackson's Real Problem" (The Dartmouth, Jan. 5), the newspaper staff ironically focused on the exact wrong issue. My op-ed was calling for the nation to stop blaming Ms. Jackson and to stop thinking only about her right breast. Contrary to the title's message, this problem does not belong to Ms. Jackson, it belongs to the nation. To give my piece a victim-blaming title is wrong and born in the same ignorance that is plaguing the rest of the nation.
The original title was "The Real Problem: Sexual Assault." I hope that America -- and The Dartmouth -- can finally start focusing on that problem and stop focusing on Ms. Jackson.
