Is There a Doctor in the House?

To the Editor:

Sen. John Edwards stood up many people the other day by reneging on a promise to present at DHMC Grand Rounds. I was one of those planning on attending. The "excuse" was that he had some TV time in Concord that demanded his attention. I was very disappointed by this lack of integrity and honesty, and it only reinforces my semi-opinion of him: He is an opportunistic, charming but sleazy politician who made much of his money by suing physicians and corporations. When you read about physicians leaving a practice or a state because of high malpractice premiums, think of John Edwards. I am not saying he was wrong to pursue some of these malpractice cases; he is a damn fine lawyer. Nonetheless, he did not live up to his promise to present his candidacy to a large group at DHMC, and for this I can not forgive him. It probably would have been a tough audience anyway. Today, vote for anyone but John Edwards, if you value integrity and trustworthiness.
