Tubestock

To the Editor:

How irresponsible and ignorant of the entire Editorial Board of the D to write an article bashing Doc Kupiec for urging safety and legality on the part of our classmates?

Class Council does not "promote" the event, as the article suggests, but our Class President did choose to stand up and take some responsibility for the members of our class rather than remain silent.

Students are aware of what Tubestock is and what it will continue to be. We are also aware, however, of the danger and liability involved. We do not want to facilitate the end of a tradition, and more than that, we do not want to get arrested or injured. Has anyone known any event involving Dartmouth students -- even those toned down in the recent past -- to be anything remotely resembling "Disney-fication?"

As the Editorial Board may or may not know -- though it appears not -- the risks this year are especially high. Tubestock will continue to exist in its rightful form only as long as students exercise some caution, and Doc Kupiec was doing nothing other than reminding us all of that.
