To the Editor:
In response to Conor Jarvis '02's column of February 14, 2002, "The Price of Freedom," I agree that the Dartmouth Dining Service meal plans seem problematic, but to blame the situation on The Pavilion is unfair. The service charge for the off-campus meal plan existed before The Pavilion and would probably have remained regardless of what DDS chose to do with the Westside space.
Mr. Jarvis does make a good point: it doesn't make sense that the line to Food Court is out the door while few people eat at The Pavilion. If you choose to wait on Food Court lines because you really want country fried chicken at Monday lunch or a cheesesteak from the grill, then I applaud your perseverance. But if you only go to Food Court because it's there and you don't feel like there is any alternative, then I encourage you to try The Pavilion.
Don't worry, Food Court will still be there tomorrow.
