To the Editor:
In Brian Nick's Oct. 8 editorial "Peace Without A Solution," he asserts that pacifists on campus are "dangerous" people who need to "seriously reconsider [their] position and [their] entire line of thinking."
While I find myself unsure of whether or not our military actions are appropriate, I am relatively certain that Nick's sentiments are much more "dangerous" to American ideals than those he attacks. Those who protest military action are not all "empty, self-serving" intellectuals, as Nick claims. They are Americans who are expressing their valid opinions about the course of action our government should take.
I would have been able to take Nick much more seriously if he defended his assertions with sober reasoning rather than lashing out at others with angry rhetoric. I'm not ready to buy into the tunnel-visioned McCarthyism that he embraces in his editorial.
