The Dartmouth

The Issue of Inclusiveness

To the Editor:

Keith Walker's [of San Antonio, TX] letter in the July 23 issue of The Dartmouth erroneously claimed that Mormons are not Christians. As a practicing Mormon, I can assure him and all readers that Mormons are indeed Christians.

The full name of my church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The full name of the Book of Mormon is The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

The first of 13 articles of faith (Statements of Belief, by Joseph Smith) says: "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." For further indications of this fact, please see www.lds.org.

I also ask that anyone professing to know Mormon doctrine please provide evidence, from credible sources, to support his or her opinion.
