To the Editor:
Back in 1992, a few of the anti-Greek members of Panarchy had an idea to form a separate residential system as a pro-active way to dismantle the Greek system. After much wrangling with the Office of Residential Life, but with generous support from the rest of the administration, we formed the first undergraduate society at Dartmouth. Not much longer, Amarna joined us.
I was delighted to read that in 2001 two more houses are thinking of leaving the antiquated system for the more equitable and socially progressive undergraduate society ideal. As history continually proves, while progress may sometimes be slow, it is nonetheless inevitable. Even in Hanover.
