To the Editor:
I ache for the loss, of the Zantops, to your community. I remember clearly my horror after hearing the news and my fear that the person or people who could commit such a crime were still out there somewhere. The pain and confusion on the faces of people being interviewed tore at my heart. Now I also ache for our loss.
I am a resident of Chelsea and the pain and confusion are on the faces of myself and my friends. The ache in my heart for the Dartmouth community is still there but now there is an equally big ache for the community of Chelsea.
While trying to come to terms with what two members of our community are alleged to have done, we have this huge media presence asking us "what we think of the allegations." Phones ring at all hours of the day or night, our kids are harassed when leaving school or while trying to find release from the stress at our local skating rink. The kids ask questions that we, as parents, don't have answers to.
My wish for both communities is that we can heal and find a way to go on. There will be no closure for either community until the facts are released. They tell me that could take months, possibly longer. I guess I want the members of the Dartmouth community to know that we understand your pain and confusion ... we share it.
