The Dartmouth's Coverage

To the Editor:

Thanks for your daily coverage of the Zantop investigation. Your web site is the only place I can get updates here in the Midwest. Please keep up the good work.

To the Editor:

I would like to express my disappointment with last week's advertisement for the D's website coverage of the Zantop case. The black banner that ran across the bottom of the paper and stated "Get all the info on the Zantop case! Updated daily" exhibited not only poor taste, but also a lack of integrity on the D's part.

Let us remember that the loss of the Zantops is a devastating tragedy for this institution, not a tabloid worthy "event" for newspapers to cash in on.

To the Editor:

I just wanted to thank Mark Bubriski and Julia Levy for the great job you and the rest of the D's staff are doing to keep the Dartmouth community, and the nation, informed about the investigations surrounding the recent tragic deaths of Susanne and Half Zantop. I also appreciate your work to convey the general attitude of students, faculty and administration on campus.

To the Editor:

I just wanted to tell the Dartmouth staff you're doing a terrific job under stressful circumstances. I am being dispatched to Hanover at some point to do a takeout story on the Zantop murders, and have been using your site daily to keep abreast of developments. The memoirs you've been running on the web site alongside the breaking news add poignancy and depth to the overall coverage. Your story about the student who was questioned by police was particularly compelling and, I'm sure, an exclusive.

To the Editor:

In response to last Monday's editorial about gay Republicans by Hemant Joshi '04, I would like to say one thing: come see for yourself! While Hemant may not fully accept the idea of gay Republicanism, I hope that the student body as a whole will be more open-minded.

I encourage Hemant and the whole Dartmouth community to hear the expert on gay Republicanism. Today at 8 p.m. in Collis Common Ground, Richard Tafel, the Founder and President of the Log Cabin Republicans, will be speaking on the topic "Gay Republicans: It's Not An Oxymoron." I ask students: are you interested in eliminating traditional stereotypes and working outside normal political boundaries? Richard Tafel will address issues of sexual stereotypes and politics in his speech at Dartmouth. Come to learn and participate in what promises to be an intelligent and controversial discussion.
