Perspective from Abroad

To the Editor:

I am an American living in Europe and I can tell you that people here take the Zantop tragedy very, very seriously. They have the American dream here and that has not diminished. However, when something like this happens, (and as in the case of the Zantops) to immigrants from Europe, it affects the general opinion here to a large extent as you can well imagine.

I am writing primarily to express that I am extremely annoyed at the lawyer of Tulloch who states flippantly, "Let the system work. Don't jump to conclusions."

Well, the world won't jump to conclusions, Mr. Lawyer, if someone would give us just the very basic motives and or reasoning behind this horrible crime.

Now everyone wants to slap the media's wrist for speculating. That's not very insightful or helpful. Media bashing just distracts from the fact that we are hungry for knowledge. Hungry to know what on God's green earth went on here with these two boys.
