The Dartmouth

Vox Clamantis

To The Editor,

We read with great sadness the story in the online version of The Dartmouth about the act of vandalism that occurred recently at Alpha Chi Alpha. We the undersigned were classmates, fraternity brothers, and/or friends of Dave Wolfson '92 and had planted the tree in his honor over nine years ago at the time of his tragic death. Dave was an incredibly talented young man who left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

In his far too short 21 years, his enthusiasm for life, learning and friendships was infectious. While all of the undersigned (and Dave himself) could surely appreciate a practical joke or harmless prank, we deplore the brutal defacement of what we considered a sacred remembrance of a departed friend. We can only hope that whoever was responsible for this thoughtless act now recognizes the personal connection that many of us felt towards the tree we had planted in Dave's memory.
