Park '97 missing in New York City

A recent Dartmouth graduate, 24-year-old Leo Park '97, has been reported missing in the vicinity of East 10th Street in the confines of the 9th Precinct in Manhattan, by his family.

Park, who works for Salomon Smith Barney in New York, was allegedly last seen in his Manhattan apartment, wearing a white t-shirt, on the morning of March 19. His family reported his disappearance after he did not arrive at work.

After Park was reported missing, the police department immediately conducted a 24-hour intensive search, and his disappearance was reported on local newscasts, according to Precinct Sergeant Steven Hoffman in the Missing Persons division of the New York Police Department.

The ongoing investigation has been turned over from the 9th precinct, where Park was reported missing, to the Missing Persons department, Hoffman said. Detective Pura Michel, who is working on the case, described the investigation as "a massive search" for Park.

"We met the brother and a bunch of friends and we canvassed Manhattan," he said.

Hoffman said the New York City police department has searched hospitals looking for Park, and has put up pictures and signs at numerous locations in New York.

The search has resulted in several phone calls of spottings, but none of them have yet been able to provide the police with any useful information, Hoffman said.

At the College, Park was a Psychology major. He played on the Volleyball team and was a member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity.
