The safety of personal belongings should fall under the responsibility of individual students. My roommate and I always lock our room and have never had a problem with theft or break-ins. If students don't want their belongings stolen, an obvious precaution is locking their individual doors. Locking the residence halls will not likely curb theft. It will just be a hassle for thieves to overcome. How hard would it be for a thief to wait for someone leaving a dorm to open the door for him or her? Please don't lock our residence halls. Thanks.
