To the Editor:
As a graduate of a liberal arts college with historical links to Dartmouth, I was shocked to hear of the proposed initiative at Dartmouth which would, in effect, do away with the entire traditional fraternity/sorority system. Since few, if any national Greek organizations would approve of this forced gender integration, charters would be pulled, and the system would cease to exist. Since when is suppression of the freedom of association consistent with the ideals and philosophy of a liberal arts institution? If the Trustees of Wabash College were to offer this type of reckless reform, I am convinced that alumni support of the college would suffer greatly. The Trustees of Dartmouth should reconsider this decision.
