Panelist Incorrectly Compared Recent Campus Events to the Holocaust
To the Editor:
This Thursday's "What is Ghetto?" discussion group contained the single most offensive speech I have ever heard. One of the introductory panelists, Jessica Marshall '01, had the sheer audacity to compare the intolerant atmosphere at Dartmouth to Nazi Germany. As a Jew who lost an entire branch of my family in the Holocaust, I cannot possibly convey my anger and disgust. The death of six million Jews is not to be trivialized by equating it with racially offensive speech or action. This discussion was meant to reduce ignorance and prejudice at Dartmouth, but Marshall's statements were at least as good an example of those problems as anything I have heard in my time here. She should be ashamed of herself.
