Paul '00 elected CFSC president

The Coed Fraternity and Sorority Council elected Jaimie Paul '00, a member of Sigma Delta sorority, as its Summer term president during elections last Thursday.

Eugene Kim '99, a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity, was elected CFSC vice president.

The CFSC also elected Benjamin Oren '00, a member of Alpha Chi Alpha fraternity, as this term's programming liaison. Alex Shults '00, of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, was elected treasurer. Adam Siegel '00, a member of Chi Gamma Epsilon fraternity, was elected events manager, and Allison Thomas '00, a sister in Delta Delta Delta sorority, is this term's CFSC secretary.

Paul said she is "really, really excited" about her new position. She said she first became involved in the CFSC last term when she served as its secretary. While working in that capacity, she said, she realized she wanted to be Summer term president.

The CFSC is "such a good council," Paul said, composed of "enthusiastic presidents." She said the group has "different ideas" that are "positive and creative."

"We're psyched to get things going," she said.

"The group this summer is better organized and more cohesive than in years past," Shults said.

Paul said the CFSC met yesterday to discuss its plans for the term. The main focus of the CFSC this term is to aid in the transition to the new College alcohol policy, she said.

The CFSC is also working with Assistant Dean of Residential Life Deb Reinders on the Student Assembly's "Visions of Dartmouth" report, Paul said. The council is trying to change the College's minimum standards and programming standards for CFS houses, she said.

The CFSC is also attempting to get audits for all the non-College-owned CFS houses to ascertain their condition, Paul said.

She said the CFSC hopes to get the audits sometime within the next three years.

In addition, the CFSC is planning a retreat on September 20 for CFS presidents.

Also, a few Greek-only programming events are in the works, Paul said.

Siegel said Summer term "shouldn't be as busy a term as the Fall" because parties in the scale of what is normally given during the school year are not allowed during Summer term under the new policy.

Kegs are also banned under the new alcohol policy.
