Big names for first 99 Rockfest

The Goo Goo Dolls, Marcy Playground, Fuel and more will be coming to the Upper Valley for 99 Rockfest, an outdoor concert, on August 14.

The concert is being produced entirely by 99 Rock, the College's FM radio station, and will be held at the North Haverhill Fairgrounds in North Haverhill, VT. The Red Telephone and the Lisa Guyer Band are also slated to appear.

"This should be the biggest thing the Upper Valley has seen, in terms of concerts," 99 Rock Programming Director Ryan Jones said.

Tickets will be sold starting Friday. They will be $14 prior to the concert date, but $30 that day, and can be bought at Foodstop stores and Foggs True Value stores.

There will also be a tatoo parlor, piercing booth and velcro wall to keep the expected audience of 15,000 people entertained between sets.

The Programming Board is being asked to help 99 Rock with ticket sales and providing busses for students to get to and from the fairgrounds.

This is the first 99 Rockfest, but Jones hopes it is the first of many, in which bigger bands will come to play the Upper Valley.

The Goo Goo Dolls currently have the number one single in the country, "Iris."
