Kiewit is Working with Students to Provide Reliable Printing Services

To clarify several points in Dave Gacioch's editorial, "It's Not Easy Being Kiewit," in the May 5 The Dartmouth: at no time in recent weeks have any institutional data or mission-critical computing operations been at risk of being lost or corrupted. Dartmouth's BlitzMail services successfully operate more than 99 percent of the time, all the time. The reliable availability of our administrative information systems has been greater than 99 percent during normal business hours for the past several years.

I realize Gacioch's theme was Computing Service's printing policy. I am aware of some students' concerns. Members of Computing Services recently met with a small group of students that included Gacioch, and we will continue to discuss our printing policy.
