Eating Disorders Awareness Week Will Examine the Issue of Size Discrimination

To the Editor:

The Dartmouth community has a unique opportunity to look at size discrimination, which is possibly the last unaddressed "phobia," during this year's Eating Disorders Awareness Week.

This year's keynote event will feature an innovative and interactive lecture by clinical psychologist Lisa Berzins, Ph.D. on Monday, February 2. Dr. Berzins, one of the organizers of the 1997 Congressional Briefing on Eating Disorders Information and Education Act, has an active clinical practice and speaks widely on a variety of eating disorder and size acceptance issues. In addition, Dr. Berzins has served as director of several eating disorder treatment programs and as clinical faculty in Yale University's psychology graduate program.

During the month of February, we are also offering eating disorder informational programs and screenings to groups of students (athletic teams, sororities, residence halls, etc.) on request. For more information, please contact us.
