Transition to Roth Center for Jewish Life Warranted Extensive Coverage

To the Editor:

I am surprised, shocked, and appalled that the procession which marked the transition from the old Hillel house on Summer Street to the new Roth Center for Jewish Life next to Tri-Delt was not even mentioned in your paper either yesterday, Monday Sept. 29 or today, Tuesday Sept. 30. This event was important enough that over 250 people showed up, and it's coverage took up nearly half of the front page of the Valley News, yet not even a paragraph appeared in The D.

This event heralded momentous occasion not just for the Jewish community on campus, 10%+ of the student body, but for the Jewish community of the entire Upper Valley which includes several members of the Dartmouth faculty and staff. This procession was the result of several years of planning, meetings, and construction of the new center which will house services, kosher eating, and classes for both the Dartmouth and Upper Valley Jewish communities.

I have never been so disgusted with The Dartmouth, of which I have been a loyal subscriber for many terms, as I am now with your lack of interest in such an important subject. I wonder if we will see you at the dedication in November. If history is any indicator then probably not.

In conclusion I ask that this letter be printed immediately in its entirety without edit or omission.
