Adam Dansiger '00 sustained massive head injuries in a one-car roll-over automobile accident on Interstate 89 in Sharon, Vt. on Friday morning. He is currently in critical condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center's intensive care unit.
According to Vermont State Police, Dansiger was traveling southbound on I-89 when he lost control of the 1991 Mazda Navajo sports utility vehicle he was driving at approximately 6:55 a.m. on Friday morning.
Dansiger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the car at some point during the three times the car rolled over.
Two other passengers, who police did not identify, sustained minor cuts and abrasions.
The vehicle initially left the roadway after Dansiger lost control of it, but Dansiger was able to steer the vehicle off of the median and back onto the roadway, where it overturned one full rotation, according to the release.
The car then left the roadway again and rolled over twice more in the median before finally coming to a stop on its wheels, facing north, the release states.
The police motor vehicle accident report indicates clear weather conditions and a dry road at the time of the accident. It also describes Dansiger's Mazda as having "heavy roof and left side damage."
A DHMC administrative coordinator said last night that Dansiger's condition remains unchanged -- he is in critical condition, having suffered massive head trauma.
The state police in Bethel are continuing their investigation of the accident. Any witnesses are asked to call 802 234-9933 with any information.
