For the fifth year in a row, the Dartmouth women's rugby club has won the Ivy League Championship.
Saturday morning at Sachem Field, Dartmouth beat Brown 38-0. Keirsten Lawton '94, Beth Haas '98, Cristy Nguyen '95, Rachell Katz '97, Nicolette van der Lee '95 and Dawn Elliot '96 all had tries for Dartmouth.
"Our forwards were completely dominant and determined the pace of the game by taking and maintaining possession of the ball," Scrum Captain Lis Kann '96 said.
Fortunately, the Dartmouth ruggers had energy to spare for their championship match against Radcliffe.Amidst showers of freezing rain, Dartmouth defended the title once again.
With a try apiece, wingerHaas and hooker Rachell Katz '97 asserted Dartmouth's superiority early in the first half. Later in the half, Haas broke through the Radcliffe backs for another try. An early penalty kick and two out of three conversions by Lawton brought the final score to 22-0.
"Everything came together on Saturday," Coach Deb Archambault said. "We recycled the ball well, especially the forwards who were dominant in both games. Against Radcliffe, good handling by the backs was complemented by Keirsten Lawton's effective kicking."
