'Innate goodness of the people of Dartmouth'

To the Editor:

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I thank the person who turned my pocketbook in when I lost it while visiting my son during Carnival Weekend. We were at Psi Upsilon fraternity house watching the keg jumping contest when I realized that my small pocketbook which had $110 in cash, numerous credit cards, car keys and other important items was lost. It was a terrible feeling. After reporting it to the Hanover Police, Dartmouth Safety and Security and the members of [Psi Upsilon] fraternity house, I went home without the pocketbook.

The following Tuesday, a woman called from the Collis Center. Someone had returned the pocketbook with everything in it. We didn't get her name or the name of the person who found it. I spent some time trying to locate those two persons which is why this letter is delayed. I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart, and if you could blitz my son Kevin, who is a '98 living in Hinman and tell him who you are, I would like to thank you personally. The fact that the pocketbook was returned is a wonderful reflection on the innate goodness of the people of Dartmouth.

To the committee who planned the Carnival Weekend, our family would like to thank you for a most enjoyable weekend.
