After being arrested during campus protests last night, Dartmouth history professor Annelise Orleck announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that she was “banned from the campus.” According to College spokesperson Jana Barnello, in an email statement to The Dartmouth, Orleck’s prohibition was a condition “imposed by the bail commissioner,” while the College “had no intention of seeking Prof. Orleck’s exclusion from campus.”

At 12:30 p.m. on May 2, Dartmouth faculty and staff held a walkout on the Green in response to the arrests of 90 community members during the May 1 encampment protests. Approximately 100 professors, staff and students gathered to condemn last night’s mass arrests and the police response to the peaceful protesters.

Last night, Graduate Organized Laborers of Dartmouth-United Electrical Workers, the College’s graduate student workers’ union, voted to strike, according to a campus-wide email from College Provost David Kotz. The strike will take effect tomorrow.

The parties in the sexual misconduct class action against Dartmouth made public the terms of their proposed settlement yesterday, with the College maintaining its position that it did not commit wrongdoing and expressly denying that it broke any law or statute.

Dartmouth and the nine women suing the College for allegedly failing to act on reports of sexual misconduct by three former psychological and brain sciences professors have reached an out-of-court settlement totaling $14 million, College President Phil Hanlon announced in an email statement this morning.

Over 1,000 individuals have signed a petition addressed to College President Phil Hanlon and the Board of Trustees expressing frustration over long processing times for international students’ federal work authorizations and calling for support and curricular reform from the College. The delays have resulted in some international students losing internships and money spent on unused housing and flights, according to the petition.

By a margin of just 34 votes out of over 1,700 cast, Dartmouth’s student body elected Luke Cuomo ’20 to become the College’s next Student Assembly president, according to a press release from the Elections Planning and Advisory Committee. The Student Assembly vice president will be Ariela Kovary ’20, who ran on a ticket with Cuomo.
