Pursuing rights for all

To the Editor:

The Dartmouth Editorial Board's Verbum Ultimum ("A Call to Overhaul Student Assembly," April 25) has made a first in politics: They have accused my candidacy as being "agenda-driven" and "divisive." What campaign is not agenda driven? All politics are about agendas.

Clearly, what the Editorial Board is saying is that mine is an "agenda" with which they do not agree. I would hope that everyone else on campus is not divided over the issue of sexual assault at Dartmouth.

Nonetheless, to assume that The Dartmouth itself can speak for the entire campus when it states that "students are generally satisfied" is to invalidate the experiences of countless other students who have felt threatened or marginalized throughout their Dartmouth career.

My campaign has not been part of an "ideological agenda." It is simply the pursuance of the rights of every student at Dartmouth. If that is my agenda, so be it.
