Kirk named as head coach of Dartmouth women's golf team

Courtesy of George Knapp Members of the Dartmouth women's golf team said they are excited to welcome Alex Kirk, the head golf professional at the Hanover Country Club, as their new head coach for the 2012-2013 season. Kirk will bring a wealth of experience and wisdom to the program, which is on an upswing after promising performances in recent seasons, players said. Dartmouth Athletic Director Harry Sheehy announced Kirk's appointment on July 3 following the resignation of head coach Janet Coles in May.

D'Agostino wins first women's individual title

Courtesy of Abbey D'Agostino Dartmouth secured its first-ever individual national title in women's track and field when Abbey D'Agostino '14 edged Megan Goethals of the University of Washington by three-hundredths of a second on June 9 to win the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dartmouth men's rugby defeated Shippensburg and Stony Brook Universities in the NCAA regionals over the weekend.

Men's rugby punches ticket to Division I-AA Final Four

Erin Becks / The Dartmouth The Dartmouth men's rugby team advanced to the final four of the 2012 Emirates Airline USA Rugby Men's Division I-AA tournament for the first time since 1988 over the weekend, notching wins over Shippensburg and Stony Brook Universities.

The softball team managed only four total hits during its doubleheader against the State University of New York at Albany, dropping both games, 4-0.

Dartmouth bats struggle in losses

NATHAN YEO / The Dartmouth Senior Staff The Dartmouth softball team suffered from a lack of offense on Wednesday, as the Big Green (10-19, 3-9 Ivy) was shut out by the State University of New York at Albany in both games of a doubleheader, falling to the Great Danes (28-10, 9-3 America East) in both contests, 4-0. The losses came after promising results last weekend that saw Dartmouth split a four-game series against Ivy League rival Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Under Magleby, Dartmouth has won the last five Ivy championships and posted a 7-0 Ivy record in 2011.
