Phi Beta Kappa society inducts top 20 seniors

The 20 members of the Class of 2007 with the highest cumulative grade point averages were inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society's Dartmouth chapter in a ceremony at President Wright's house on Wednesday. This year's new inductees are Jacob Anderson, Hannah Burzynski, Frederick Hitti, Colleen Kelly, Davida Kornreich, Tyson Kubota, Christine Lahens, George Leung, Nathan Lo, John Milliken, Matthew Pech, Mitchell Pet, Nikolas Primack, Alison Riep, Alexander Rupert, Jeremy Schneider, Andrew Seal, Benjamin Taylor, Yuni Yan and Brian Zhao. In a departure from past years, only five women were inducted early into Phi Beta Kappa. English professor Cynthia Huntington, Asian and Middle Eastern Languages and Literature professor Dennis Washburn and biology professor and Associate Dean for the Sciences C.

Event raises awareness of improved Org. Farm

Over 50 students flocked to the Dartmouth Organic Farm on Friday to try their hand at cider pressing, pumpkin decoration and even worm composting as part of the farm's fall event, Pumpkin Pie In the Sky. The event also featured live music, a potluck, pumpkin pie contest and bonfire in addition to various farm-related activities and workshops. Event organizers Elizabeth Goldstein '06 and Jennifer Tate '08 hoped that Friday's event would not only raise campus awareness about the farm, but also give students a chance to see the Organic Farm's new farmhouse. "We have some kind of event out at the farm every term," Goldstein said.

Scam artists take aim at students

Two males in a silver Audi with New Hampshire plates were allegedly driving around campus trying to sell Elite Audio speakers to Dartmouth students on Tuesday.

Football co-captain faces charges after July altercation

Samantha Ceppos / The Dartmouth Staff Editor's note appended Mike Rabil '06, a fifth-year senior and co-captain of the Dartmouth football team, and Craig Schlapprizzi '06, who were among a group of three men arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery after a summer incident in Chicago, are scheduled to appear at a court hearing this week. Rabil, a defensive tackle, was arrested at 1 a.m.

Academic Gala acknowledges the work of accomplished seniors

The Ninth Annual Academic Gala held at the Top of the Hop Tuesday afternoon brought undergraduates, faculty and administrators together to celebrate the achievements of the College's 200 plus senior fellows, thesis writers and students completing major projects in the creative arts. College President James Wright praised the students who choose to take on a senior project. "This is the creativity, imagination and artwork that sustains and symbolizes the intellectual life that sustains this community," Wright said in a speech.
