Softball sweeps four games against Yale for an 11-1 Ivy League record

The softball team traveled to New Haven, Connecticut, this past weekend to play two doubleheaders against Yale University (7-16, 2-8 Ivy) on Saturday and Sunday, winning all four games and improving its record against Ivy League schools to a conference-leading 11-1. The Big Green (18-13, 11-1 Ivy) went on the board early in the first game as leadoff hitter Katie McEachern ’16 started the weekend with a home run to center field.

Baseball falls to Boston College

A loss assigned to a pitcher is — in a perfect world — supposed to indicate fault. At times the loss can be telling of a pitcher’s performance, but it can also be a misleading statistic — a sting felt by no one more than Chris England ’15 last Tuesday after taking the start against Boston College. The Big Green ultimately dropped the game 2-0 to the Eagles, but fault in this case goes beyond the simple winning and losing pitching record as England, in 6.1 innings, allowed two runs — one earned. “You just go out there and you try and pitch well every time,” England said.

A boy from Panevezys, Lithuania, has taken over Dartmouth basketball. No doubt you’ve seen the SportsCenter Top 10 highlight by now — a Yale University player swats a full court in-bounds pass from Miles Wright ’18 out of bounds with 1.9 seconds to play. Down by one, Dartmouth is given one last chance. There is little talk about the game-winner itself, and even less about the player that shot it. But that’s just fine by Maldunas. All that mattered to him was his family in the stands. ?

Men’s lacrosse falls to No. 11 Yale

The men’s lacrosse team dropped its match Saturday at Yale University’s Reese Stadium, falling to the No. 11 Bulldogs 10-4. The loss brings the Big Green’s total record to 3-5, with the team 1-2 in the Ivy League.

Softball jumps to 3-1 Ivy start on strength of Rumley no-no

For the first time this season, the women’s softball team squared off against Ivy League opponents last weekend, playing doubleheaders against the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University on Friday and Saturday, respectively. \n On top of winning three of the four games, the highlight of the weekend was a remarkable pitching performance by Kristen Rumley ’15, who on Saturday became the fifth Dartmouth softball pitcher to throw a no-hitter in program history in the first game against Columbia. \n Rumley started the weekend pitching against Penn, allowing two runs and striking out four players through five and one-third innings and was relieved by Morgan McCalmon ’16, who came in, closed the game 3-2 and earned the first save of the season.
