PLOUGH: One-on-One

I sat down with rookie sailor Avery Plough '14, who was recently selected by the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association as Co-Ed Sailor of the Week with partner John Renehan '13. How are NEISA awardees chosen? AP: Co-ed sailors of the week are chosen from the regatta performance from that given weekend, usually at one of the upper-level regattas. Women's lacrosse loses tense matchup at Penn

|

Nik Medrano / The Dartmouth Staff In a devastating 10-9 loss to the University of Pennsylvania, the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team snapped its five-game winning streak on Saturday. The atmosphere on the field was tense for the Big Green (8-3, 4-1 Ivy), both due to the significance of the game and the severe weather conditions, as a torrential downpour continued throughout most of the matchup. "It was the most rain I've ever played in," Shannie MacKenzie '11 said. MacKenzie also expressed her frustration that the scoreboard did not accurately reflect her team's abilities. "We are the better team," she said.

To the Editor: In his April 13 column, "Shared Sacrifice," John Lee '11 writes that I, speaking at last week's workers' rights rally, "criticized the Dartmouth community for giving aid to Haiti while ignoring the struggles of staff members in our own backyard." He also states that I disapprove of "charitable giving to one of the poorest and most disaster-stricken countries on earth." This is a gross misrepresentation of my speech.
