Like the Dartmouth social scene, this past week in the sports world had some of everything -- the good, the bad and the ugly. Lance Armstrong's sixth consecutive Tour de France victory was the sentimental play of the week. The Utah Jazz's signing of Mehmet Okur to a six year, $50 million deal highlighted an NBA off-season of bad front-office decisions that include the Golden State Warriors' re-signing of backup center Adonal Foyle -- who has career averages of 3.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game to a five-year, $41.6 million contract.

The world does not stop for Dartmouth. While members of the Class of 2006 spent this past weekend entertaining their parents with on-campus barbecues and prostituting younger siblings out to their Greek organizations, celebrity life continued as usual. Many celebrities did lots of noteworthy things this weekend, namely being ridiculously awesome and dropping Gs on Crystal. Here is at what some celebs were up to this past weekend:

More than any other team in NBA history, the Los Angeles Lakers have capitalized on transactions involving high-priced Hall of Fame centers. However, for the first time in team history, the Lakers' move involves shipping a high-quality center out of L.A. rather than bringing one in, as it did when it acquired Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O'Neal in the 1960s, 1970s and 1990s, respectively.

Dartmouth men's hockey was represented three times over at the two-day NHL entry draft, held in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday and Sunday.Star rookie defensemen Grant Lewis '07 was selected 40th overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the second round of the draft. Incoming freshmen forwards Nick Johnson and J.T. Wyman landed with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round and the Montreal Canadians in the early fourth round, respectively.

A senior Dartmouth attacker/midfielder became the first Big Green lacrosse player selected in the Major League Lacrosse draft when he was taken by the New Jersey Pride in a draft held in Fairfield, Conn., on the evening of June 3.
