If you know that the football team is taking on Yale this weekend, most of you figure reading this preview is not worth reading. Dartmouth is unbeaten in their last 21 games, Yale has found themselves in the winning column just five times in those 21 games. The Big Green has won seven in a row against the Bulldogs, including three straight victories at the Yale Bowl in New Haven. Dartmouth is 4-0 on the season while Yale comes in at 1-3. Yet, the Big Green's opponent this weekend presents more problems than can be seen by streaks and records. The Bulldogs won their first game two weeks ago against Valparaiso and followed that up by battling with a Bucknell squad who defeated Ivy League heavyweights Harvard and Penn. Furthermore, Yale is just now adjusting to the system of new Head Coach Jack Siedlecki, who took over for legendary coach Carm Cozza this season.

The Dartmouth field hockey team took second-place in the state of New Hampshire when they lost 2-1 in overtime to the University of New Hampshire yesterday afternoon at Chase Field. Football in Hanover? No joke, it really does exist as Dartmouth plays their first home game of the season when they entertain Cornell tomorrow at noon. The game is the second big Ivy League test for the Big Green in the first three weeks as Cornell arrives at Memorial Field with a lot of question marks but a lot of talent as well. Dartmouth enters the game 2-0 on a 19-game unbeaten streak but their last loss was by five points to Cornell in Hanover two years ago. Jaws were frozen in disbelief. Fans stared so hard at the scoreboard in disbelief that the little electronic lights bore into their brains, continuing to blilnd their comprehension. Cornell 24, Dartmouth 19. A game Dartmouth should have won. The belief among the press and fans that the most storied program in Ivy League football was not to be a force in1995 did not matter to the disheartened athletes wearing green and white. As for the next game, "Losing is not an option," quarterback Jon Aljancic '97 said.

It may be worthless to evaluate the NFC Central seeing that the Green Bay Packers should runaway with the division once again as they try to win back-to- back Super Bowls. Yet, the black-and-blue division of the NFL will get more than one team into the playoffs, and the question is only which of the remaining four teams will be able to earn a wild-card spot.
