This weekend I celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Coeducation at Dartmouth. To me, the Coed Celebration is not just about seeing Meryl Streep, or passively attending the one weekend's events. Rather, it is the beginning of a process of celebrating how far we have come and realizing how far we still have to go.

It was deja vu all over again for the Big Green women's soccer team yesterday as they were beaten 2-0 by the University of Connecticut who came into the game ranked eighth in the nation. Last year, the Huskies ended Dartmouth's season by beating them on the same field in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

If you know that the football team is taking on Yale this weekend, most of you figure reading this preview is not worth reading. Dartmouth is unbeaten in their last 21 games, Yale has found themselves in the winning column just five times in those 21 games. The Big Green has won seven in a row against the Bulldogs, including three straight victories at the Yale Bowl in New Haven. Dartmouth is 4-0 on the season while Yale comes in at 1-3. Yet, the Big Green's opponent this weekend presents more problems than can be seen by streaks and records. The Bulldogs won their first game two weeks ago against Valparaiso and followed that up by battling with a Bucknell squad who defeated Ivy League heavyweights Harvard and Penn. Furthermore, Yale is just now adjusting to the system of new Head Coach Jack Siedlecki, who took over for legendary coach Carm Cozza this season.

There's a fungus among us. Or so it appeared in the bathroom mirror. The first red annular blob appeared on my chest a week after I arrived in London. I chalked it up to sensitive skin until a dozen of his spotty friends arrived on my torso a few days later. I squinted at them suspiciously in the mirror, but with classes starting and great London Indian food to be found, I had no time to fret about thirteen little red patches. I gave them the raspberry, but the little red monsters would not be ignored.

My first year at Dartmouth I was in a great Spanish class spring term. Although I liked my drill instructor, I really liked the other section's drill instructor more. I guess I had a crush on him. He was smart and very funny and rather handsome. This was a very innocent crush that had a lasting effect on my Dartmouth career.

Forget those silly tie-ins and let's get straight to the heart of the matter. Do you like risk? Specifically, do you like to risk life and limb? In addition, do you like to undergo said risks for nothing but the sheer thrill of it? Do you see Jackie Chan stunts and yawn, saying, 'Been there, done that?' OK, maybe that last was a little extreme.

On Tuesday, the women's tennis team buried UMass on the Topliff courts by a score of 9-0. The matches were hard-fought, but the result was lopsided as the Big Green came away with the sweep of the Minutemen. The win keeps Dartmouth's record perfect at 2-0 in dual matches after a trouncing of Boston University last week.
