This year’s Green Key concert will be headlined by indie-rock band Grouplove. Recently-reunited hip hop duo MKTO will open after performances by student band Avalanche and a DJ set from Philip Ernst ’26 and Ufuk Sahmeran ’27, according to the Dartmouth Programming Board.
Grouplove is known for their 2011 hit song “Tongue Tied.” Their song “Back in the ’90s” appears in the end credits of the Netflix original series “Bojack Horseman.”
The Programming Board wrote in a press release that Grouplove was chosen to headline the event based on “strong student interest in pop and indie pop” expressed in a campus-wide survey about music genre preferences and a subsequent artist survey that “provides more specific feedback on all the acts we are considering.”
MKTO, which disbanded in 2017, reunited in January 2025. The Programming Board wrote that they were “informed” of the reunion “shortly after the survey launched,” according to the Programming Board. Their hit song “Classic” debuted in 2013.
Avalanche, a student band founded in winter 2025, won the Programming Board’s annual Battle of the Bands competition on April 24, earning the Green Key student band opener spot. It is composed of bassist Ben Floman ’28, vocalist Sarah Hochman ’28, drummer William Laws ’29, guitarist Ryan Peterson ’28 and keyboardist Noah Plintz ’28.
The Green Key concert will be held on Gold Coast Lawn on May 15 at 7 p.m.
Tierney Flavin ’28 is a reporter and editor. She is from Kansas City, Mo. and plans to major in Government and Sociology.
