Re: Beilock says ‘reflection does not mean capitulation’
Daniel Webster’s verdict in Dartmouth College v. Woodward originally preserved American private colleges from government overreach in 1819. The Dartmouth College case has for over 200 years been studied in law schools nationwide as the underpinning of contractual inviolability and independence from governmental overreach – Dartmouth’s first great distinction as a leader in academic freedom.
The Trump administration’s threatening intrusion is nothing short of extortion. If the bully takes one penny of your lunch money you are his ATM forever.
I fear that Dartmouth College has lost its noble luster.
To the College, please sign with the AACU, thus redeeming the College's ideals inculcated by Professors such as Henry Ehrmann and – THE ZINGER!, or my old professor of constitutional law Vincent Starzinger.
In retention of my dignity and in hope for the soul of the College, respectfully,
