"We've been down a bunch at halftime, so we thought it was just going to be another one of those adverse situations that we had to work out of," co-captain Pat Lahey '12 said.

The game came down to a number of controversial calls, many of which seemed to go against the Big Green. The call that provoked the most crowd hostility came on an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty called against the Dartmouth bench after a player accidentally hit a referee with a game ball that was intended for a nearby ball boy.

"It was one of the strangest things I've seen in my life," head coach Buddy Teevens '79 said. "Nothing was said, and it was not intentional. It was just a perfect storm."
