Martinez, a guard who hails from Hailey, Idaho, led Wood River High School's girls' basketball team to two consecutive Great Basin Conference District Championships, she said.
"As a point guard, I have to get my teammates involved and pull the best in them," Martinez said. "I think my leadership will be important in creating a cohesive team construct and rallying the team together."
Martinez said she believes her energy will positively affect the team, and she said she also hopes to work on creating more scoring opportunities for herself.
"Players at the next level will be taller, stronger and faster," Martinez said. "I really have to create some separation so I can contribute successfully to the team."
Martinez hopes to major in biology or neuroscience at the College and pursue a career in medicine.
Crockett, a forward from Southfield, Mich., was the captain of Detroit Country Day's girls' basketball team during her senior year and was also an All-State nominee that season, she said.
"I think my greatest attribute is that I never give up and my work ethics work for the team," Crockett said.
On the court at Dartmouth, she hopes to play with more confidence and improve her three-point shot, she said.
Crockett said she was always confident in her decision to play for the Big Green because of "the coaches and the environment."
She hopes to study biology or anthropology and plans to pursue a career in medicine or public policy.
Roman is a guard from White Plains, N.Y. , and was a four-year varsity athlete at White Plains High School, serving as co-captain of the basketball team her senior year. Roman led her team to the league championships as captain and was the team's lead scorer for three consecutive seasons.
"My point guard mentality and scrappy plays will be the strongest attributes I will bring to the team," Roman said.
Although she was recruited by other colleges, Roman said Dartmouth expressed interest in her over the longest period of time.
"Other than good academics and a good basketball program, I felt the coaches at Dartmouth were really on my side," Roman said.
Jordan, from Worcester, Mass., had a standout high school career and led Tilton School's girls' basketball team to two league championships, according to the release.
Roland, a forward from Jeffersonville, Ind., was the captain of Jeffersonville High school's basketball team during both her junior and senior years, and led her team to the 2010-2011 state championship with a 28-2 record, according to the release.
Taiclet, a forward from Wellesley, Mass., led Noble and Greenough School's girls' basketball team to four consecutive Independent School League Championships with a perfect 12-0 record every year, according to the release.
Crockett, Martinez and Roman all said they hope to secure the Big Green's 18th Ivy League title during their first season.
"I definitely want us to win Ivy League championship and be able to compete in the NCAA tournament." Crockett said.
Returning players look forward to the team's new additions, Eve Zelinger '14, a current member of the women's basketball team, said.
"I'm really excited to get to know all of the 16's," Zelinger said. "Everyone is working really hard this summer and I just have a feeling this season is going to be a fun and great one."
The freshman class will join, in addition to Zelinger, returning players Faziah Steen '13, Nicola Zimmer '14, Tia Dawson '15, Kamala Thompson '15, Milica Toskovic '15 and Abbey Schmitt '15.
Jordan, Roland and Taiclet did not respond to requests for comment by press time.
