Internet Meme of the Week: "The Hunger Games" Game

This past weekend, the film adaptation of the first book in Suzanne Collins' vastly popular "Hunger Games" trilogy opened with a bang. With the "Harry Potter" series finished and "Twilight" set to end this year, "The Hunger Games'" rabid fanbase should bolster the film's box office. The series is so popular that the over-saturation of merchandise tie-ins is inevitable.

In response to this, and in a nod to the series' large teenage girl fan base, popular humor site College Humor released a faux-commercial this week for "The Hunger Games" Game. Though it looks professional, the absurdity of the commercial makes it seem like it came out of an episode of "Mr. Show" with a cheerful narrator mentioning "slaughtering opponents" and "finding out who has a crush on you" in the same sentence.

The video has gone viral, having appeared on various blogs such as The Huffington Post and Jezebel. As for "The Hunger Games" Game coming to a store near you, don't count on the odds being in your favor.
